How can I see how long it takes for an investor’s portfolio companies to exit?

By viewing an investor profile, you can learn about how long it takes for an investor’s portfolio companies to exit.  This can give you some insight into how successful they are, as well as how long it takes for them to see a return on their investment.

For this example, let’s look at Andreessen Horowitz’s profile.

Step 1 - Log in to CB Insights

  • At the top right, search an investor name to go to their profile.

Step 2 - Go to Investor Analytics tab

  • Once on the investor’s profile page, click on the Investor Analytics tab.

Step 3 - View the Exit Lifespan Scatter

  • Click on the Exit Lifespan Scatter, where you’ll see a graph that shows how long it takes for portfolio companies of Andreessen Horowitz to exit, and how much funding each company raised before exiting.

Notes

  • Mouse over any point on the scatter plot to see the associated company and funding amount raised pre-exit.
